Amelia quickly adoped Drake as her older brother and best friend. She follows him everywhere and is either chewing on him or trying to steal his bone. Drake is slowly getting used to the idea of having to share his home with another dog. He is still a bit unsure of Amelia at times and is eager for attention from us.

Amelia is quite a smart puppy too. She is finally house trained, but still has very selective hearing. She has also successfully mastered the "sit" command -- sort of. We are working on teaching Drake as well, but you know what they say about old dogs and new tricks! That said, Amelia has managed to teach Drake to bark! Amelia eats like a horse (and not just her food) and is growing quickly! She's definitely a lap dog and will start snoring almost instantly if she finds the perfect spot for a quick nap.

Amelia came to our home on December 21st, 2004, through a friend of a friend. Although she left behind the rest of her litter, she seems to have adopted Drake as her new big brother. Amelia is a mix of Bassett and Beagle hounds. She looks more like a beagle, but definitely has the extra skin folds characteristic of bassetts. We adopted Drake from the Humane Society of Baltimore County on March 26th, 2002. Drake is a mutt -- some combination of American Staffordshire Terrier, Bull Terrier, and Staffordshire Bull Terrier (and who knows what else). He has the cute terrier face and the strong bulldog body -- to learn more about Bull Terriers, visit the American Kennel Club website.
